We’re almost there! Your 3rd IYC payment of $140 is due on Sunday, May 9th, along with 2 following forms: IYC Permission Form and IYC2010 Waiver. They are VERY IMPORTANT because I have to send them in to IYC office that week. Please have the 2 forms filled out completely and turned in by SUNDAY, MAY 9th.
Hopefully you have heard by now that a Student Ministries candidate has been chosen. His name is Matt Zielich. Matt is engaged to Leah and they will be getting married on May 21. They are a dynamic couple that has a major passion for youth and for youth who do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ. The Youth Advisory Team and I are very excited for you to get to know them. Matt will be a great addition to our staff at Eastland.
There are several opportunities for you students and parents to meet with them:
May 2: 9:30 am and 11:00 am Matt and Leah will be introduced to the congregation in both services. At 12:15 pm, there will be a Special Business Meeting.
30 Hour Famine is a national teen movement to end world hunger, and we’re all about that! On May 7-8, we will be participating in a different kind of 30 Hour Famine. Our fast (eating no food, only drinking water and/or juice) will start individually that Friday at 6am (yes, that means fasting through school) and end at 12 noon on Saturday.
We’re going to do this together with students at Wildwood Church of God in Ashland, KY. We will leave Eastland at 5pm on Friday and return at 3:30 on Saturday after our Break-the-Fast meal.
The cost is $15 which includes an awesome t-shirt, food/water, games, and building materials. “What? Building materials?” That’s right. We will actually be sleeping overnight in “houses” we build out of cardboard, much like people in poverty do all over the world.

This Sunday, April 25th, we are serving the Liberty Ridge Senior Assisted Living Center right next door. From 1-3pm, we will be doing some yard work and trash pick-up to help them have the best looking area for their 10 Year Anniversary celebration. Come to Sunday morning with a lunch packed (we’ll eat in the youth room), a change of clothes, some yard gloves, and a heart ready to serve! *Unless your small group decides to meet later, we will not have small groups that evening.
Our Wednesday Nights are going to look a little rebellious…but just not the way you would think. Starting this Wednesday, April 14th, we’ll join in something together that could change everything. Don’t miss Wednesday Nights in the youth room from 7-8pm to start being a REBEL.
